The seven chakras are centers in the body which energy flows through. Blocked energy in the 7 Chakras can lead to illness, so it’s important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.
1st Chakra: Root Chakra
Represents: foundation and the feeling of being grounded, stability, safety, survival instincts
Location: base of spine and tailbone area
Emotional issues affecting Root Chakra:
survival issues, financial independence, money and food
– Stomping your bare feet on the ground. The Root Chakra is all about feeling grounded.
– Practicing Kundalini Yoga can open up your lower spine. Bridge pose is a good pose to use for this chakra. Grounding your feet down into the earth in this pose and lifting the root chakra towards the sky, allows excess energy to be released. Keep your knees above your ankles and in line with your hips. Tuck your chin towards your chest. Start by holding for just a few seconds. Gradually after practicing over time you will begin to feel comfortable holding for longer. Never force a yoga posture, just allow for energy movement and release, always maintaining a steady and comfortable breath.
–Red colored foods like apples and beets
-Hot spices like red cayenne peppers and hot sauces
-Vegetables from the ground like potatoes and carrots
-Animal proteins like red meat and eggs
